Legal Information
Last updated: 5 November 2026
This page contains the legal information that reportaix publishes about itself, together with the wider notices that govern access to and use of this website. It is written for visitors in the United Kingdom and for anyone who contacts us from elsewhere. Please read it alongside our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Terms and Conditions and Payment and Refund Policy, each of which is named in the section headed "Related Policies and Terms" below. If any part of this page is unclear, please contact us using the details in the section headed "Registered Office and Contact Details".
1. Identity of the Website Operator and Its Role
This website is owned, operated and published by reportaix. Throughout this page the words "we", "us", "our" and "the operator" mean reportaix, and "this website" means the pages, features, tools and downloadable material made available under our domain name.
reportaix is the publisher of this website. Our role is to research, write, curate and maintain information about live television production: how studio equipment is integrated and configured, how camera techniques are chosen and applied, how rooms are treated for acoustic performance, how lighting is designed, rigged and controlled, and how dependable production processes are built for news programmes, interviews and live shows. We are an information provider and a professional resource hub. We are not a broadcaster, we do not hold a licence to broadcast, and we do not produce, commission or transmit the television programmes that our material describes. Nothing on this website is a substitute for professional engineering, electrical, health and safety, insurance or legal advice, and nothing on it creates a client, agency, employment or fiduciary relationship between you and us.
As the operator of this website we also act as the data controller for personal data collected through it, in the sense given to that term by the United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation ("UK GDPR"). Our data protection practices are described in our Privacy Policy.
2. Legal Form, Registration Details, Tax Identifiers and Responsible Representatives
The operator is a private limited company incorporated in England and Wales. The details below are the statutory identifiers that identify the company as a legal person. They are published here so that you can verify who you are dealing with and check our public records at Companies House.
- Legal name: reportaix
- Legal form: private company limited by shares, registered in England and Wales
- Company Registration Number: 13033970
- VAT Number: 494089156
- Registered office: Beaconsfield Studios, Station Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 1LG
- Country of registration: England and Wales, United Kingdom
- Director and responsible representative: Jon Howarth
- Principal business activity: the rental, supply and technical support of camera, lighting and studio equipment, and the provision of related production, integration and support services for film, television, broadcast and live media production
The company name, the registered office, the Company Registration Number and the VAT Number are the four identifiers most often requested by customers, suppliers, banks and payment providers. If you are invoiced by us, the same identifiers appear on the invoice, and the VAT Number is the identifier you need if you are reclaiming VAT.
2.1 Licences and Regulatory Status
Broadcasting in the United Kingdom is regulated by Ofcom, and a licence is required in order to provide a television programme service. We do not provide such a service and therefore hold no broadcasting licence. Where our activities involve the hire of equipment, the supply of technical services or the installation of studio systems, we comply with the regulatory requirements that apply to those activities, including electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility and product safety rules, and with any permit or approval required by a client's premises. Any professional certification, insurance cover or trade accreditation that we rely on is available on request.
Nothing on this website should be read as an offer to provide regulated financial services, credit, gambling, medical or legal services. We do not carry on any activity that requires authorisation by the Financial Conduct Authority in connection with this website.
2.2 Responsible Representatives
The director named above is the person responsible for the content published on this website and for the company's compliance with the legal information and data protection requirements that apply to it. Formal notices relating to content, intellectual property or data protection should be addressed to that person using the contact details given below. We aim to acknowledge formal notices within five working days.
3. Registered Office and Available Contact Details
Our registered office and principal place of business is Beaconsfield Studios, Station Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 1LG. Written correspondence, legal notices and service of documents should be sent to that address. The quickest ways to reach us are by email at info@nfts.co.uk or by telephone on 01494 671234. Our telephone lines are normally staffed during ordinary United Kingdom office hours on working days, excluding public holidays.
A contact form is also available on our Contacts page, and messages sent through that form reach the same team as messages sent by email. If your enquiry concerns a specific piece of content, please include the page address and the date on which you saw it so that we can find it quickly. We do not accept service of legal proceedings by email unless we have agreed in writing to do so.
4. Purpose, Scope and Intended Audience of the Website
This website exists to help people plan, build and run live television productions. Its subject matter includes studio equipment integration and signal flow, dynamic camera techniques and movement, acoustic optimisation and room treatment, lighting setups and control, and the production processes that keep news programmes, interviews and live shows on air reliably.
The material is written for working professionals, technical crews, production managers, students and informed enthusiasts, and it assumes a general familiarity with production terminology. Where a topic is technical, we explain the practical consequences rather than repeating manufacturers' manuals, and we try to be explicit about the trade-offs involved, because a lighting or acoustic decision that suits one studio may be wrong for another.
The website is aimed at a United Kingdom audience and is written in English. Some of the equipment, standards and working practices described are specific to the United Kingdom. If you are reading from another country, local law, electrical standards, radio frequency allocations and health and safety rules may differ, and you should check them before acting on anything you read here.
The website is provided for information and general guidance. It is not a catalogue, a quotation, a specification or a contract. Prices, availability and technical specifications change frequently and must always be confirmed with us in writing before you rely on them.
5. Rules for Access to and Acceptable Use of the Website
You may browse this website free of charge for your own personal, professional or educational purposes. Access is permitted on the terms set out on this page and in our Terms and Conditions. We may suspend, withdraw or change all or part of the website without notice, including where we need to carry out maintenance or where we consider that use of the website is unlawful or harmful.

If you breach these rules we may take any action we consider appropriate, including refusing you access to the website, removing any material you have submitted, and disclosing information to law enforcement authorities where we are required or permitted to do so.
6. Ownership and Permitted Use of Website Content, Trade Marks and Other Intellectual Property
All content on this website, including text, editorial material, diagrams, illustrations, photographs, layout, design, source code and the selection and arrangement of the content, is protected by copyright, database rights and other intellectual property rights. Those rights belong to us or are licensed to us by their owners. The website's name, logo and any other trade marks, service marks, trade names and branding used on the website belong to us or to their respective owners, and nothing on this page gives you any right to use them.
You may:
- view, download and print pages for your own personal, professional or educational use, provided you keep all proprietary notices intact;

You may not copy, adapt, translate, mirror, frame, scrape, resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the website or any substantial part of its content without our prior written permission. Requests for permission should be sent to info@nfts.co.uk with a description of the material you wish to use and the purpose for which you wish to use it. We usually respond within ten working days.
6.1 Notice and Takedown
If you believe that any material on this website infringes your copyright, database right, trade mark or other intellectual property right, please write to us at Beaconsfield Studios, Station Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 1LG or email info@nfts.co.uk with your contact details, a description of the protected work, the page address of the material complained of, and a statement explaining why you believe the use is infringing. We will review the notice, and where it appears well founded we will remove or restrict access to the material while the matter is resolved.
7. Accuracy, Availability and Proportionate Limitations of Liability
We take care to ensure that the information on this website is accurate when it is published. Even so, production technology changes quickly, manufacturers update equipment and firmware, standards are revised, and working practices vary between studios. We therefore give no warranty, express or implied, that the content is complete, current, accurate or suitable for any particular production, studio or purpose.
We do not guarantee that the website, or any content on it, will always be available or be uninterrupted. Access is provided on an "as available" basis. We may suspend, withdraw or restrict access to all or any part of the website for business, operational or technical reasons, and we will not be liable to you if for any reason the website is unavailable at any time or for any period.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all conditions, warranties, representations and other terms that might otherwise apply to the website or its content, whether express or implied, including any implied terms as to satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We will not be liable for any loss of profits, loss of business, loss of anticipated savings, loss of data, loss of goodwill, or any indirect or consequential loss arising out of or in connection with the use of, or inability to use, this website, or reliance on any content on it.
Nothing in this page limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for breach of the terms implied by sections 49 and 50 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where they apply, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights, and nothing in this page affects them.
8. External Links and Third-Party Content
This website may refer to, describe or link to websites, products, services and resources operated by third parties. Those references are provided for information only. We do not control third-party websites and we are not responsible for their content, their availability, their accuracy, their security or their privacy practices. A reference to a third party does not mean that we endorse that third party, its products or its services, and it does not mean that the third party endorses us.
If you follow a link from this website to a third-party website, you do so at your own risk, and you should read the terms of use and privacy policy of that website before using it. Where third-party content is embedded in or displayed alongside our pages, the provider of that content remains responsible for it.
9. Data Protection, UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and PECR
We process personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 ("PECR"). As the operator of this website we are the data controller for that processing. We collect only the personal data that we need in order to respond to enquiries, provide our services, keep proper business records and keep the website secure and working properly.
Depending on the circumstances, our lawful bases for processing are: your consent, where you have given it, for example when you submit an enquiry through the contact form; the performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before entering into a contract; our legitimate interests in running and improving our business and this website, where those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms; and compliance with our legal obligations, such as tax and accounting requirements. We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purpose for which it was collected, and then delete or anonymise it.
9.1 Your Rights Under the UK GDPR
Subject to the conditions and exemptions in the legislation, you have the right to be informed about how your personal data is used; to request access to the personal data we hold about you; to have inaccurate data corrected; to have data erased in certain circumstances; to restrict or object to processing; to data portability where processing is based on consent or contract and is carried out by automated means; and to withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis for processing. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@nfts.co.uk. We will respond within one month, although we may extend that period where a request is complex.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal data or your request, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the United Kingdom supervisory authority for data protection. We would ask you to raise the matter with us first so that we have the opportunity to put it right.
9.2 Cookies and Similar Technologies
This website uses cookies and similar technologies. Essential cookies are needed for the website to function and to remember your cookie choices; other cookies, such as those used for analytics or embedded media, are set only with your consent. When you first visit the website, a cookie banner asks you to accept or reject non-essential cookies, and you can change your choice at any time. Further detail, including the categories of cookies we use and how long they last, is set out in our Cookie Policy, which forms part of this legal information.
10. Related Policies and Terms

11. Applicable Law, Competent Courts and Consumer Dispute Rights
This page and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it, its subject matter or its formation are governed by the law of England and Wales. Subject to the paragraph below, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute or claim.
If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live, and nothing in this page deprives you of the protection afforded to you by the mandatory rules of the law of your country of residence. If you are a consumer, you may also be entitled to use an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) service. We are not obliged to participate in ADR and we consider complaints on a case-by-case basis. The European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform was discontinued for United Kingdom consumers after the end of the transition period, so complaints should be directed to us in the first instance using the contact details on this page.
Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking interim or injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
